(TCP IP World) Comtrol Corp., a manufacturer of industrial device connectivity products has upgraded its DeviceMaster UP product line, by introducing a new version of the Modbus/TCP firmware.

According to a news release, the new Modbus/TCP firmware has been designed with the ability to be extremely flexible when connecting both Modbus serial slaves and raw/ASCII to a large number of

Modbus applications and controllers. The new firmware version 5.02 is available on the Comtrol’s website. Some of the updates in the Modbus/TCP firmware include a Command/Response mode that allows more than one controller that are different from each other to communicate independently to serial and Ethernet TCP/IP raw/ASCII devices.

Bradford Beale, President of Comtrol, said that with the new added features to the Modbus/TCP firmware, customers in the oil and gas industry as well as the brewery industry now have the ability to improve their current Modbus infrastructure by using the serial-connected Modbus PLC’s to connect to serial Modbus slaves . Now existing Modbus infrastructures can also connect easily to raw/ASCII and TCP/IP devices such as barcode readers and printers on networks.

System integrators and engineers will benefit from the improvements made because the demands of today’s diverse Modbus installations.
